My name is Robert (Bobby) Lochner. I am currently a sophomore at Illinois State University. I am studying accounting and look to become a public accountant or financial adviser once I graduate. I was born in Evanston, but I grew up in Morton Grove, a neighboring city of Evanston. It is about a two hour drive to get to ISU from there. Growing up I was all about sports. My dad was my coach for a good majority of my athletic career. I played on a lot of teams with my older brother in sports like, football, soccer, basketball, but more than anything baseball.
I went to high school at Niles West, which is in Skokie. My freshman year I stuck with my core three sports, football, baseball, and basketball. I had a lot of fun in all three but when I got brought up freshman year to play with the varsity team I decided to stick to baseball. I had a very successful career. I got some offers from some lower level teams and some pretty solid organizations but I decided to focus on my academics and come to ISU.
Family is the most important thing in the world for me. I have two brothers, two parents, 23 aunts and uncles, 30 cousins, but most important is my 4 grandparents. My grandparents are always there for me in times of need. They have been through a lot and their wisdom is more reassuring than anything. A lot of people can;t say that they have four grandparents anymore so that’s why it is even more of a blessing. Once a year, my dads side of the family goes up to Cable, Wisconsin and it is the best time of the year for me and all my family. It is ten days of fishing, water skiing, riding the jet ski and bonding with loved ones.
